Do You Need to Be Home for Delivery?
No — this is the single most common delivery-day question we get, and it's the one first-timers worry about most for no real reason. As long as we know exactly where the dumpster is going (driveway, side yard, a specific corner of a lot) and any access details ahead of time — a gate code, a note about a locked side gate, instructions for a rental property — our driver can deliver it without you needing to be there in person.
That said, plenty of customers do choose to be present, especially on a first rental, just to point out exactly where they want it or ask a quick question in person. Both ways work fine. What actually matters is that the spot is clearly communicated and physically clear when the driver arrives — not who's standing there watching.

How Much Space Does the Truck Actually Need?
The container itself is only part of the equation — the truck delivering it needs its own room to maneuver. A roll-off delivery truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight, clear approach behind the exact spot where the dumpster will sit, so it can back in and tilt the bed to slide the container off in a controlled way. Once it's down, the dumpster footprint itself is what actually occupies your driveway or yard long-term.

How Delivery Day Actually Works, Step by Step
- You confirm your drop spot and timing when you book. Whether online or by phone, you'll tell us the address, the exact spot for the dumpster, and your preferred delivery window.
- We text or call to confirm the date. TrashCo DFW delivers Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm — we're closed Sundays, so anything booked for a Sunday gets moved to the nearest available day.
- You get a heads-up as the truck gets close. With live driver GPS tracking (a feature most DFW dumpster companies don't offer at all), you can see roughly how far out the driver is instead of guessing all day.
- The driver backs in and lowers the dumpster into the agreed spot. This takes a few minutes. Nobody needs to touch or load anything during this step — the container can shift slightly as it settles onto the ground.
- You get confirmation it's down and ready. Once it's placed, you're free to start loading right away.

What Could Delay or Block Your Delivery
Almost every delivery-day hiccup we run into traces back to one of a few avoidable things, and every one of them is easy to fix if you catch it before the truck shows up rather than after:
- A car, boat, trailer, or RV sitting in the exact drop spot. The driver needs that specific spot clear, not the whole driveway.
- A locked gate with no access instructions on file. If the dumpster is going in a side yard or backyard, make sure any gate code or lock combination is passed along ahead of time.
- Overhead obstructions nobody flagged. Low branches or lines that looked fine from the street sometimes aren't once a driver's actually backing a loaded truck bed underneath them.
- Placement on the street with no permit. Nearly every residential delivery goes on a driveway with no permit needed at all — but a street placement in most DFW cities requires one. - Soft, sloped, or unstable ground. A loaded dumpster is heavy. Grass, gravel, and slopes can shift or sink under that weight, so the driver may ask for an alternate spot on delivery day if the original one isn't solid.

The moment the driver confirms the dumpster is placed and off the truck's rails, you're free to start loading — there's no waiting period or separate "activation" step. Almost anything from a typical renovation, cleanout, or construction project can go in — drywall, flooring, furniture, roofing debris, general household junk. Pickup Day: The Same Process, in Reverse
Pickup day works almost exactly like delivery day, just backward. The same kind of truck backs up to the dumpster, hooks onto it, and pulls it up onto the truck bed to haul away. You don't need to do anything special on your end — just make sure the same approach path and area around the dumpster stays clear the way it was for delivery, since the truck needs the same access both times.
